Marilyn revisited by Sheila

"Marilyn"
5x8 colored pencil and goauche on paper

Since Dean left it up to us for the subject matter, I chose another Hollywood icon from the past. When women didn't have to be a size 0 or 2 to be a sex symbol.

  3. Sheila, this is very, very nice. Like Dana, I love the strong background compared to the softness of Marilyn, very dramatic. Also, your handling of those many sheer layers in the skirt, wow. I can't wait to see it in person to study it up close!

  8. Terrific, Sheila!! The dress fabric (taffeta?) is so well-done. The background is effectively dramatic, the pose is great...just an overall super piece.

  11. Nice work, Sheila! Takes me back to when I was a little girl and started realizing how much sway the glamorous starlets had -- the President no less was taking time out for this one... pretty incredible. Great job. I might do my next one in colored pencils, too.
