ADEBANJI ALADE
This is for Angela, she had places as her theme and since I had just been to the farm, I chose the places with animals, option. I love the farm and I could live with those creatures-the smell just turns me on!!
For the cows I used my usual mixed media drawing materials and for the pigs I used just my trustworthy graphite.
I missed posting this again today but it will certainly go out to Dean tomorrow with Camille's as I have packed them both to be transported to Dean. I had to complete Camille's because I am so busy preparing for a group exhibition in Bath.
I am really enjoying this, just need to be a bit more disciplined to stick to my commitments, please bear with me Dean!

ReplyDeleteYes Liz, "Holy Cow" its also my reaction.
Beautiful, beautiful...you raise the bar for all of us!
ReplyDeleteIncredible Angela called me to tell me to check out the post, and I am glad I did. My sister loves cows, and has a true passion for them. When she called me today and told me I had to check out the blog, I had a feeling that there was something great!!! Incredible, I cant wait to see the sketch in person. You made my Sister very happy.
ReplyDeleteAdebanji, I was at school about to go into a meeting when I saw your drawings, but could not take the time to leave a comment until later. I am absolutely blown away at your expert attention to detail. Liz so nailed it, your ability to render textures is amazing, and with that you've managed to engage all of our senses. In my opinion, cows are very peaceful, simply doing their thing and then they stop and look at you, exactly the moment that you captured, wow! My love for bovines came from my grandfather who raised a variety of cattle. I was a city girl, but when I visited, I insisted on waking up early and making the cattle rounds with him. I always thought it was magical that he would show up in his blue pick up truck, shout his cattle call and they would come out by the droves ready to be fed. And I love the graphite drawing of the pigs, outstanding!!! Aren't they funny little things, usually huddling close together, close to the feed trough. Thank you so very, very much, not only have you given me 2 beautiful drawings, but you've brought back many warm memories of the farm, as well. (I love the farm smells, too) :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love the perspective of the pigs and the texture in both.
ReplyDeleteYour farm animals are absolutely wonderful, Adebanji! I love the pigs - great composition.
ReplyDeleteAdebanji, this is sensory overload. Unlike most of the others, I've seen your work in person, and know how extraordinary your "sketches" are. I continue to be amazed.

Holy pig ! holy cow !....... I agree with Vern I am on sensory overload. Your work delights us all. I can smell the farm. Each of these has it's own personality, they are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteI won't go so far as to say I smell the farm, but there's "moos" and "oinks" ringing in my ears. I love the cow. I love the pig. Your marvelous sketches are like shiny stars flittering around the immense world of art, leaving beams of light wherever they go. Great work, once again.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your wonderful, encouraging comments, To God be the glory, as He created these wonderful things....Angela, I am happy you love them!
