9" X 11" oil on gessoed paper
Painting roses has always been difficult for me, but when considering what to paint in fellow Moleskinner, Vern Schwarz' book, I realized that Vern's wife's name is Rose...it was a no-brainer...I had to go for it!So Vern, you have an original Rose...here is another, hope you like it!
And to all the others that are participating in this project, I want to say "WOW!". I have been continually impressed by the quality of the work I am seeing as I get these books. The photos just don't seem to do them justice...you have all held the bar high, great job!
This painting is beautiful...I, too find roses a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI also have an original Rose...Christina Rose is my daughter :)
This is beautiful Dana.
ReplyDeleteYou did very well. Is this was difficult for you?
What a great idea. A creative mind.
Beautiful Rose painting Dana!
ReplyDeleteDana, this is wonderful and such a great concept, sure to be a pleasure for both Vern and his wife. You have painted the texture and translucency of the rose petals beautifully. I agree with you, viewing the work online is no comparison to seeing the work in person, it's such a treat receiving each book!
ReplyDeleteDana, as I said on your blog, I just love what you have so skillfully created for my book. This, and my Rose are both amazing, and you couldn't have created a more beautiful piece. This doesn't look like it was the least bit difficult for you, with it's gorgeous colours and beautiful lines. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I had to go find my gal and show her what you did, and she absolutely loves it. Way to go Dana!
Dana, you have risen to the challenge with this crisp, colour rich, cute rose! I am sure Vern would love it!
ReplyDeleteOh what a fabulous choice for Vern and his wife Rose. I love it when we can use our talents to play on words too. Your rose is beautiful, so well done and I love that soft yellow you choose.
ReplyDeleteYour rose is perfection, Dana. It has such a wonderful glow!
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary, Dana. Perfect, perfect, perfect. The sentiment and your painting both. The warm light on this is and the color harmony takes my breath away.
ReplyDelete...meant to say the warm light on this is gorgeous....
ReplyDeleteRoses can definitely be tricky to paint, but you did a beautiful job with this, Dana - I love the glow it has.
ReplyDeleteThis is surely the most beautiful rose I've ever seen painted. As Angela said, the petals have a translucency and you can feel that warm light on them. I truly have never seen such a beautiful painted rose. Dana, you really are amazing!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! What beautiful painting to match the beautiful inspiration behind it. You are awesome Miss Dana!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was looking at a Jackson & Perkins catalog....what a magnificent rose! So very realistic with a luminescence that glows. And the sentiment is perfect. Super, Dana.
ReplyDeleteDana, what an excellent gift to Vern and his Rose!! Talk about holding the bar high!!!
