oil on gessoed paper with paint pen
My topic for this moleskin project is about dreams. It is painted in oils first with a brush, then a palette knife as an ode to Van Gogh's Starry Night. I then added a gold paint pen to finish it off the foreground area, though I'm not sure why. I get to peek into the lives of the other artists through their artwork and now through their dreams... I can't wait to see the results!
Thanks Dominique, it's coming your way!

ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, Dana. I really love your handling of the sky and those areas of red - very atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming ......I'm dreaming ......... but will I remember it is the question !?!?!?
ReplyDeleteGreat theme and rendition Dana.
Beautiful landscape, love the warm reds!
ReplyDeleteLove this red dream in red.
ReplyDeleteNice - looks like some heavy paint in palette knife work. Colors are vivid and dreamy, too.
ReplyDeleteI was so inspired by this painting that I *almost* tried a landscape myself on this one. I really do feel the Van Gogh nod you were going for. Very very nice. I'm looking forward to tackling your dream theme!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice send-off painting, Dana!! The "dream theme" is neat. I often have a habit of dozing off while I'm painting, anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful landscape, Dana! I love all that thick paint...how daring of you. I didn't think to try that in a sketchbook. Love the theme too.
ReplyDeleteA very powerful, colorful, little piece of art to launch your book. I love your oil painting! Intriguing theme- dreams- thanks for the heads up...I will be thinking about what to paint.
