ADEBANJI ALADE
TITLE: "got spare change, please..?"
MEDIUM: Graphite, Biro(ball point pen) and number 75 TomBow Brushpen.
HOMELESSNESS and POVERTY
I have been very very busy hence the late start for me. Please accept my apology!! I could only just post to Dean today and I feel real bad about this.
I have as my theme: Homelessness and Poverty. Even the Mole has a hole to live comfortably but most folks around us don't and some live on the streets, beg for money, or hustle along, facing the agony of living rough. These are the kind of pieces I'll like to see in my moleskin, anything that you feel goes along with this theme.
My Front Cover
Just like James Parker I would love you all to create on a full page spread in any medium and leave the next page spread blank or with some comments(I have shown this in a example in my book in the beginning, for you all to see)
I got my first batch of moleskins from Liz yesterday, it was great to receive, not only did it have this lovely created box but also gifts for my children! I feel this is great because it is bringing us all together in a way I never thought. I hope this continues! Thanks Dominique for getting this going.

Oh, Adebanji........ Thank you for stretching us in areas that we are all aware of but seldom recognize and do something about it. Thank you for pushing me to reach out in my community where I see homelessness. Your theme will generate much from all of us.
ReplyDeleteA great theme, Adebanji. Gives us pause to really stop and think of those less fortunate.
ReplyDeleteThis is great Adebanji. And your theme? No problem I am from Santa Monica the home of the homeless. No kidding!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Cali, Irit
great post , fantastic work !
ReplyDeleteWonderful piece, Adebanji, and a truly meaningful theme.
ReplyDeleteYou're a good person, Adebanji, and a good influence on others in the world -- you make us remember that life isn't all flowers and happiness for everyone and we should remember those less fortunate than we are, whenever we can. I will keep my eye out for just the right image to capture for your book. Thank you! And your drawing is beautiful in its own haunting way.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful drawing and an excellent theme, I echo Camille's sentiments exactly. I spent the morning in downtown Dallas and just happened to photograph a couple of things that might work for your concept. Knowing what it is now, I wish I had taken more shots.
ReplyDeleteWoh woh woh! WOW! Thanks a million! I almost thought I'd be sounding boring but you have all lifted me up! Thanks for all your support! Looking forward to this!
ReplyDeleteOh, Adebanji - boring, never! It's a thought-provoking and powerful theme, especially at a time when much of the world is homeless. You've set the bar higher yet for the rest of us- your art and your heart!
ReplyDeleteHi Adebanji, glad to see that you have finally emerged...knew you were busy. Art making a statement, not always popular, but necessary, and definitely relevant. Love your piece and your wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't wait to see what everyone does with this...your drawing says it all!
ReplyDeleteBanji...anything but boring! Absolutely great theme. I was a counselor/aid with Central Care Mission in Orlando for 3 years, feeding the homeless and working with the addicted. I have mental images to fill volumes. However, in the case of your sketchbook, I'll hold it down to my one page spread.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thought provoking theme, Adebanji! I'm going to start searching my mind now for a worthy piece of art. It's good to confront reality even though it is sometimes harsh and takes us out of our comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteYour art at the front of the book sets a high bar...love it!!
Thanks all!
ReplyDeleteDean-The cover of the book isn't my art, it is a picture I took.
