Is This Your Dog

I finally finished this painting for Dominque. It really doesn't fall into the guidelines that she set out for her moleskin theme, but encouraged by her reaction to my latest figure pieces, I thought I would do this one anyway. I know she loves dogs, and street scenes, so here it is my friend, an urban landscape complete with animal, vegetable and mineral. oil on paper 11 1/2" x 8"

Ed, I'll mail this to you next week after it dries. Sorry that I'm holding up the show here everyone.

  1. Vern, one of the things I enjoy in your paintings is the distribution and balance of color, as in the variety of white shapes. I love the conversation between the two fellas, you just know the man on the far left has a story or two to share and the other one will be there for some time. Very well done, Dominique will love this painting.

Vern, your book is still sitting on the breakfast room table, planned to mail it on Saturday, but it slipped my mind...James, I promise it will be in the mail this week!

  2. The attention to detail in this one is really just amazing. I love the way each person really looks like a character study, and the whole thing has your signature palette. I wish I were as consistent as you are!

  7. Oh Vern ....... What a fabulous piece. I love this scene and the different possibilities it can have of what is happening (with a hint of humor).
I love the details of those reds throughout your picture how they are carried through in the tables and umbrellas as your eye goes down the street.
I agree with Camille you are very consistent. They are such Vern paintings. Beautiful !
