This is my contribution to Adebanji Alade's sketchbook. Since Adebanji chose such an important theme: "Homelessness", I wanted to convey the somber mood and sense of despair of the subject by using the color blue. For this sketch, I used Faber Castell Polychromos in Indianthrene blue and Dark indigo.

I greatly admire Adebanji's drawing skill so I was inspired to draw this time. All too often, I have (mistakenly) seen drawing as a chore that is necessary to get past so I can get to the fun of painting. I had forgotten the pleasure of drawing itself and really enjoyed this using this medium again.

Oh MIchelle,
ReplyDeleteHow poignant your " Blue " is.
You did a drawing so full of feelings . Beautiful and perfect for Adebanji's moleskin.
Bravo !
SOLID!! Love it! That's the mood! Thanks Michelle!
ReplyDeleteReally perfect choice of medium for this, Michelle. I like the simplicity of the composition. Just the lone figure--it says it all. This is a heartfelt, and terrific drawing.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, what a beautiful drawing! The ponytail is my favorite part; love the realism. Your colored pencil drawings are my favorite and this is the best one so far. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteThis is truly beautiful, your composition and choice of color sets off the mood and makes us really stop and think of his story. Love your pencil work, too!
