Acrylic on 8x10 moleskin paper.

I'm running a bit late because of mail issues. I blame volcano ashes and postal goof ups...anything or anyone but moi!
These are swans from one of my favorite places...Lake Anna in Barberton, Oh.
A beautiful spot smack dab in a very urban area. Usually filled with walkers, joggers, and just plain ol' bench sitters, My favorite times to be there were early morning or late evening...when everything quieted down.
This is my entry into Angela Elledge's moleskin. Her general theme is Places. Hope you like it, Angela!
Get ready, Vern...comin' atcha! Hope this shipment goes smoother than the last nightmare.

Yup, Dean...I would have sooo much more done around here if it wasn't for dem ole ashes!!! These swans, however, deserve a song. Click HERE for my own vocal rendition (backed up by the London Philharmonic) of "Way Down Upon the SWAN-ee River", dedicated to this remarkable piece of artwork. ;-) Great job, Dean.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on these beautiful birds. I love the colours and feathery necks. This is a distinctly Dean painting which I'm sure Angela will appreciate.
ReplyDeletebeautiful, tranquil scene! Must be an idyllic spot to hang out. Great work, Dean.
ReplyDeleteThis painting of the beautiful swans is very elegant Dean, much like I think of Angela...she will love it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful, Dean. You created such an appealing mood with your color choices.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Dean, They almost jump out of the page! Amazing colour and textures!
ReplyDeleteAll of the above. Your swans are so graceful and I just love that water. "Such a serene scene". (Try saying that 3 times fast)
ReplyDeleteSwans give off such a soothing vibe and yours are no exception. I once bought a Lalique swan in Paris and gave it to my MIL - who does the classic "everything's cool as a cucumber" above the water but she's paddling like heck below the surface (read: she has done all her homework). Love this subject matter and the execution of it and yes, they also remind me of Angela -- graceful and gracious, and she's got it all wired! Nice job, Dean.
ReplyDeleteDean, this has been a week of highs and lows. We're looking forward to our daughter being home for the summer tomorrow, but at the same time are struggling with the death of a beloved family member. Not only do I love your painting and its message of peace and tranquility, my sister-in-law would have especially loved it, as well. I love the weight of their bodies in the water, the warm palette, and your range of whites is amazing. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you; this is truly a treasure!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I wonder if your Lake Anna is like our White Rock Lake here in Dallas? It's filled with the same that you mentioned, along with sailboats and kayaks and our group has also painted plein air there, too. It's wonderful to have such beauty right in the middle of the city.
ReplyDeleteAngela...Sorry to hear of your loss. I pray for comfort for you and those you hold dear.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely subject with beautiful color! Amazing work, Dean!
