Bluebird
8"x8", oil on gessoed cardboard
by Michelle Burnett
Here is my contribution to Sheila Tajima's sketchbook. I think the bluebird is very symbolic of Sheila since it represents cheerfulness and happiness. I think of her wonderful ability to spread happiness with all of the cheerful comments she leaves!
Her theme is things you love. My new "love" is of birds! Since I painted the chickadee, I've had this new fascination with birds and have been wanting to paint more. I've also been seeing them everywhere...in home decor and jewelry, (which I've been buying up) and plenty in my backyard. (Ah...a wonderful sign of spring!)
I love it Michelle! It has your signature delicate touch and fine detail. It is so beautiful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Michelle...the overall softness combined with the vibrant colors and fine detail give this one a big "wings up"! I give it a 5 Tweet Rating.
ReplyDeleteSweet, gentle and beautiful Michelle...nice job!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, you have described our Sheila exactly as I think of her, too! This is very sensitive and beautiful, love the way you just gave us a hint of the bluebird's coloring in the background. I've never seen a bluebird, I would assume that their bright blue feathers must be quite spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI love the delicate look this blue bird has. So well painted and that simple background enhances his beauty even more. I am looking forward to seeing more birds from you.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, this is beautiful! I love the colors. This sweet bird is radiant. gorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I'm also a big fan of birds and once got a songbird tape from the library. I can still recognize a lot of birdsounds from that.
ReplyDeleteThis little bluebird is adorable and you did really call that one - Sheila is the Bluebird of Commentary Happiness. :0) I especially love the eye expression. Very sweet. (I love cardinals!)(a friend once called them Nature's Valentine)
This is wonderful, Michelle. So beautifully painted and very sweet.
ReplyDeleteSweet and Peaceful!
ReplyDeleteThis does suit Sheila's personality!
ReplyDeleteLove the strength of color. Well done, Michelle!
Michelle, I really like this little bluebird, and uplifting words that go with it. I think your selection for Sheila was perfect.
