"Autumn Lights" - Michelle Burnett

oil on gessoed paper
10.5"x8.5"

Here is my contribution to Angela Elledge's sketchbook for her theme of "places".  This place is just up the road from my home and I wanted the capture the great fall colors (which have mostly faded away here now). I tried to paint with mostly thick, quick brushstrokes to try to add light and movement to the trees and the stream.

  1. Michelle, this just makes me smile, it is such a happy painting! The movement definitely comes through and flickering light effects are cool. And it looks like I better hustle with Adebanji's because I know this will be headed my way soon! I look forward to seeing it in person.

  4. Oh Michelle, here you are with answered prayer! I've been so put out with our Dallas green Autumn here in North Texas; it appears we are not going to have much fall foliage this year, if any. Little did I realize my long awaited Fall would be in the form of a gorgeous painting from you! You have painted the most wonderful fall for me to have and keep forever; love, love, love it!
