Afternoon Siesta
approx. 10"x8.5", oil on watercolor paper
Here is my contribution to
Vern's sketchbook. Everyone had been painting European scenes so I was going to dig out some of my old photos to paint (pre-digital!) but then I came across this photo I took last summer at Universal Studios. Through the magic of Hollywood...here is my faux European scene of a young man taking a break and texting on the phone.
This is absolutely wonderful, Michelle. Love the composition. Well done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Michelle! Hollywood or not, I wish I were relaxing in that inviting scene! Love looking through the arch, and your harmonious colors. Great work.
ReplyDeleteMichelle this is a really good composition! That's what makes this piece peaceful! Cool!
ReplyDeleteLovely painting and composition Michelle. Though a touch of Hollywood, it really could be Europe.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the Universal Studio photo! It makes a wonderful European painting! Well done!

ReplyDeleteOh, this is so complex and so well done, excellent composition!
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful painting Michelle. You really captured the feeling of a European plaza, and the composition is great. Thank you very much...I love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love the quiet, relaxed atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteI had the pleasure of seeing this one in person yesterday when Vern's book arrived and it is really gorgeous work. Michelle, those stones alone were a work of love -- looks like untold time went into them. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love this relaxing quiet atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition, great piece.
Michelle, great painting all around. Composition, contrast, colors...everything. My hat's off!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Michelle! Such a great composition using all the architecture as a backdrop!
