Joe & Friends - Michelle Burnett

Here is my contribution to Edward Burton's sketchbook for his "music" theme. I choose a favorite local jazz musician, Joe McQueen, who just celebrated his 91st birthday and is still performing.  I would have like to have spent more time working on this, but it's deadline time!

    Yes this is very nice! I especially like the handling of the piano as well as the way you conveyed the people. I like this theme and look forward to doing this one although it will be challenging!

    Excellent, Michelle. the figures really sing (?) off of the violet background. Hope I have that kind of energy and talent when I'm 90. This is great.

    Michelle, this is wonderful. I find figures so difficult to paint, and I really like the suggestion of the facial features, well done. Thank you for posting the clips, thoroughly enjoyed learning about Joe McQueen and hearing his beautiful music.

    Great choice of subject Michelle, and a great job on the painting. I love the composition. Looks like Utah is rich in all the arts, and Mr. Joe McQueen is a very interesting and talented man.
