"Open House" by Irit

This painting is for Angela

I painted this from a memory I have from an open house that I went to, I love going to open houses in my area.
In this house all I remember is lots of red in the kitchen. Red is  my favorite color.

This painting was almost finished when my grandkids were visiting us and one of them ,by mistake, put a book on the fresh paint.

I tried my best to save this painting but unfortunately the result was not exactly what I was hoping for.

  6. Red is one of my favorite colors, too! Irit, this is beautiful, I love the perspective and also thought of Matisse, especially his still life painting of goldfish. No worries about the grandkids, this makes a happy painting happier! I love it and can't wait to see it in person.

  9. Irit, to my eye this is your best one since we started this project and it absolutely does remind me of Matisse also. That tomato orangey red is super and I love that scene out the window with the cypresses. It is all so cheerful, maybe you should paint from your imagination more! I think this is one of those cases of where you painted your happy feelings, and that was a key factor in how great it came out.

  10. This is a very bold painting that I would say stood up very well to an assault by a small child. Well done Irit.
