my front porch mixed media sketch |
Irit's journal theme is local places. Since my travels are more restricted these days, I figured just out the front door would qualify. Our home was built in 1920, and has a long, covered porch with a swing at one end. When the weather's not too hot, it's a (relatively) quiet place to relax. So relaxing, in fact, that it wasn't until I'd finished this piece that I realized I'd done it upside down in the book. My apologies, Irit, but I've cut it out, and glued it in right side up.

Wow Liz, you are an amazing artist in any medium, I love it! Your patio looks charming, and if I lived there I'm not sure I would ever leave!!
ReplyDeleteLiz, this is so beautiful, both in its execution and in its design; you are amazing! Your front porch is most inviting and very soothing, I can see how you could get lost in the moment. In the 100+ temps we're having, those ceiling fans would be moving something fast down South!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dana and Angela. Angela, those fans have been whirring up here, too. We had 104 week before last. still--better than 5 feet of snow, so I'm not complaining. :-D
ReplyDeleteoh, liz, i love this one! the floor looks so nice and cool. all of the details are great. i would love to sit here. i hope your mom is doing well these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liana - I appreciate your comments! Mom's (a handful) doing okay! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, Liz! So beautifully handled and looks so inviting --- makes me want to lounge there with a tall glass of lemonade.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Edward - DC/Maryland would be a great 1/2 way point for a Moleskin meet-up ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place...so inviting! I'm a fan of watercolors that include ink line work. This is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dean!
ReplyDeleteLiz, again, jaws on the floor in this house! You da (wo)man!!!
ReplyDeleteLiz, party's at yours...what a great front porch and yard. Love your painting, but I'm always impressed with your work. Upside down, huh? You must've been on a real mission when you zeroed in on this great idea for Irit's book.
ReplyDeleteThanks Camille...and Olsen family :o)
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun, Vern! Thank you. You know, I cover and tape everyone's books, so I don't mess up the other pages. But then I don't know 'which way is up.'
Liz ...... I don't cover the books completely and I don't know sometimes which way is up ! At least you have an excuse.... lol
ReplyDeleteI love your porch and the way you rendered it makes it so inviting.
Maybe a visit in the future as suggested by Vern would be in order.
I love this piece, having the opportunity to see it in the flesh, even makes it better. Great rendering with skill and precision. I also like the lovely thin washes! Beautiful, Liz! You've got a nice house.
ReplyDeleteWow, Liz...you did super on this one!!! The perspective, balance, and attention to detail is perfect.
