Acrylic 7.5"x10"
This is my contribution to Vern Schwarz's book. When I first came across Vern's blog and became aware of his wonderful work, he was in the process of painting a large scene of Lisbon - actually just the other side of the large archway looking out through it, and since we love Lisbon, I thought I'd do a painting of it as well.
Gotta love those streetcars! Great color and composition, Edward!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a subject, Edward! You did a wonderful job handling the light!
ReplyDeleteNice atmospheric feel to this piece!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed with the detail of those electrical cables!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece I love the streetcars and colors.
ReplyDeleteAnother great painting Ed.
I desire this street car !!! ....... and Lisbon is such a fabulous city. This depiction is wonderful. I love that yellow building.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the detail in this painting, incredible. And how cool that we've all seen Vern's painting of that arch from the other side, and now I know what this side looks like (not having been to Lisbon myself -- Madrid, Marbella, Toledo, etc, but not Lisbon). Edward, wonderful piece, painstakingly done.
ReplyDeleteSuper, Ed!
ReplyDeleteOh, Edward...delightful,
Your vision of Lisbon,
Just one of the places,
In the world I've not yet gone.
But your handling the paint
With such skill and great care,
Makes me feel like a tourist.
Who's already been there. :-)
Brilliant! It has a timeless, nostalgic feel to me. Something retro about the colors and light. Vintage and perfect. I want to hop on one of those trams and see the rest of the city.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding, I love the sophisticated primary colors and the idea that you painted this subject with its technical architecture and streetcars with such precision and accuracy; wow! I do not remember Vern's painting of the other side, but I will be sure to check it out.
ReplyDeleteSuperb work, Edward! Love the color and how you handle perspective!
ReplyDeleteHi Ed, Wow, I love this piece. You really put a lot of effort into this, and it shows. Those cables are wild...really neat. You know, we didn't spend much time on this side of the monument, and I forgot about those streetcars. Thanks so much, I can hardly wait to see it in person.
