So I started out with the rose. I was going for a representational piece for Edward Burton's journal. Rose, sheet music, instruments. But I was listening to Yo Yo Ma's "Abrigado Brazil," bopping, and busting the occasional tango move solo in the studio, and, well, the pages morphed. It's odd and unwieldy, but that's true to my life these days. I humbly offer my riff on music, and the book's jetting to Banji tomorrow.
I love this Liz, it has a very Kandinsky feel to me...fresh and fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about it and I love that it started out with a rose and was going to be representational. How fun that you just went with your mood as you listened to that music, and this has fun written all over it. Beauuuutiful colors and full of wonderful feeling! Love love love!!!
ReplyDeleteOh so FABULOUS !
ReplyDeleteI love the feel it has... such energy. I can hear the music and visualize you doing some Tango moves while doing this ! GREAT PIECE for Edward music theme.

ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, Liz! I love that you started off with an idea and then improvised the rest - you really captured the feeling of jazz. Thank you, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your spontaneous riff, Liz! Well done!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Liz, makes you want to dance. Painting to music is great, and this feels like what music might look if one could see it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everybody!
